I recently stayed at the Grand Superior Lodge, and while there were definitely highlights like the cozy room and stunning views of Lake Superior, I encountered a few issues that somewhat dampened the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the location was great for exploring the North Shore. However, the dining experience could use some improvement, and the rooms had minor issues with comfort and cleanliness that need attention.

Rooms
7.0
The room was clean and well-maintained, and the cozy fireplace added a special touch. However, the bed was a bit uncomfortable, and I expected a queen size but found a double instead. The view of Lake Superior was beautiful, although I did have some distractions from nearby units.
Service

The staff was outstanding and very accommodating to any requests or questions I had, making me feel welcomed during my stay.
Location

The location was perfect; I could easily explore Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls, and the views overlooking Lake Superior were breathtaking. However, I did notice some noise from neighbors at times, which could be disruptive.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were generally good with tasty food, but I wish there were more variety for breakfast. It was decent but left me wanting a bit more.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities included a well-equipped kitchen and a convenient gas fireplace that made my stay feel cozy, but I noticed some creaky floors that might be an issue for larger parties.

We had a fantastic stay at the resort with its stunning views of Lake Superior and close proximity to snowmobile trails. Our room was spacious and cozy, and we really appreciated the large hot tub and variety of amenities available. The service was exceptional, especially from Adam, who really went the extra mile for us. However, our dining experience at the grill left a lot to be desired, highlighting a need for improvements in that area.

Unfortunately, the dining experience was quite poor; the food was burnt and service was slow, which really detracted from our overall experience.

6.2/10

My stay at the lodge was overall a mixed experience. While the front desk team, particularly Amy Sue and Matt, made us feel welcome and addressed our needs, the room we booked was not up to par. It had a funny smell and lacked some basic amenities, which was disappointing considering our past positive experiences. The location by the lake is stunning, but the overall value for the price I paid was lacking.

Rooms
5.0
The room smelled musty, had no microwave or fridge, and felt cluttered. The view was obstructed by a small cottage.
Service

The service was helpful, especially with maintenance requests, but lacked a personal touch.
Location

Facilities like the outdoor fire pits and bar were enjoyable, but I encountered issues that diminished the experience.

We had an incredibly relaxing stay with stunning views of the lake and cozy amenities that made us feel right at home. The staff was delightful and engaging, making our anniversary trip even more special. However, not all rooms lived up to our expectations, as we experienced inconsistencies in cleanliness and amenities, which detracted from the overall value. Still, the location was fantastic, with easy access to nearby attractions, making it a great base for exploring.

Rooms

We enjoyed the spacious King Suites with lake views and cozy furnishings, although our second room was smaller and not as well-kept.

Our family had a fun-filled stay at the Grand Lodge, which offered great activities for kids and a clean, comfortable room. The conveniently located pool was a highlight, but there were some maintenance issues to consider. Dining was a bit pricy for the quality, making it a factor to plan around for future visits. Overall, we would definitely consider returning with more food supplies on hand.

Rooms
7.0
The lodge room we stayed in was clean and served its purpose, though it was quite basic and showed some signs of needing updates.
Service
8.0
The staff around the property were welcoming and accommodating, adding to a pleasant atmosphere.
Location
9.0
It’s a great spot for exploring nearby attractions like Gooseberry Falls, making it convenient after a day of activities.
Dining
5.0
Dining on-site was alright, but I felt the prices were high for the quality we received, so we might opt to prepare more meals ourselves next time.
Facilities
7.0
The pool was clean and well-maintained, making it a great area to unwind at the end of the day, though some poolside tiles need attention.
